What is Hand Poke Tatoo?
Tattooing without a machine is referred to as “hand poke” or “stick and poke.” The pigment is inserted into the skin by hand, without mechanization. The results are just as permanent as machine tattooing, however, the process is more delicate and often less painful.
I apply modern standards of sanitation, safety, and protocol to this ancient method of marking the skin for the purpose of adornment, commemoration, and rite of passage.
